Collection activities in the sphere of pathogenic microorganisms usage for the provision of biological safety in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The review reveals the current state of collection activities associated with usage of pathogenic microorganisms. Described are the key stages of microbiological collections’ development, applicable normativeregulatory framework, governing collection activities and specifying its basic aspects. Defined is the scope of functions entrusted to the State Collections to provide biological safety and sanitary-epidemiological welfare of the population in the Russian Federation, and approaches to their exercising. Set forth are the focus areas for the enhancement of the State Collections of pathogenic microorganisms.
